Greens, yellows, oranges and browns, nature’s patchwork quilt. Autumn had arrived in the Rocky Mountains. Amidst the kaleidoscope of color, a speck of white. No, not snow, a Mountain Goat!
I’d spent the last three days with a group of these regal animals. I’d spent those days on the highest cliffs and most precarious rock ledges. Goats and rocks, goats and rocks. I had left those rocky cliffs earlier that morning and was headed down the mountain now, back to where there was more vegetation than just a few pitiful clumps of dead grass.
I hurried on, hoping this Mountain Goat would just stay put long enough for me to reach it. Goats and rocks, goats and rocks, I needed something more than just goats and rocks.
Rounding a corner in the trail, there it was, the Mountain Goat among nature’s patchwork quilt! A Goat amidst nature’s many colors.
