“Over the last week I’d grown used to the evening storms out here on the open prairie. I looked over my shoulder at the menacing clouds in the distance, I still had an hour or so before they reached me. Turning back around, the young Swift Fox kits in front of me didn’t seem to notice the dark clouds and lightning at all. I slowly repositioned myself amidst the flowers and cacti all around me, remembering the cactus I had missed seeing earlier, my arm still stung. The young Foxes energetically rolled around and played. One more hour before the storm hit. Thunder sounded in the distance and I smiled as I raised my camera.”
